June 16, 2021 — Indie studio StarryStarry Games today revealed more of the mysterious world behind A Guidebook of Babel, its story-based, adventure point-and-click game. StarryStarry Games also announced its participation in the Steam Next Fest from June 16 to June 22, where it will give eager players an exclusive PC demo that can also be experienced here.

The game's developers will showcase a special live gameplay streaming session during the Steam Next Fest on June 18 at 7 PM (GMT+8), along with surprise gameplay sessions for fans to discover with the hashtag, #GoBabelGame.
A Guidebook of Babel takes players on an extraordinary journey after death. In this other-worldly game, the souls of the recently deceased are swallowed by a blowfish, which is then brought onboard a cruise ship named "Babel." Once aboard, players are knocked back into their human form, thus starting their afterlife adventure on the ship.

At its core, the game introduces a mechanism seldom seen in the point-and-click genre: the Butterfly Effect. Players will have to travel back and forth in time to solve puzzles, diving deeper into plots and events aboard the Babel. The storyline is presented through multiple perspectives of characters on the ship, whose stories are inextricably intertwined and events connect to reveal the ultimate truth behind the world of A Guidebook of Babel.

The demo at Next Stem Fest will introduce two of the four protagonists, and will familiarize players with the Butterfly Effect mechanic, allowing them to rewrite the story of each main character to progress through the game.

About A Guidebook of Babel:
The vision for A Guidebook of Babel is the result of the collaboration of StarryStarry Games’ two founders: Qi Yutian and Li Jiayu. Original concept and art is the work of Yutian, who designed every character and element on screen. For his part, Jiayu single-handedly programs the game, and also creates the sound effects and soundtrack of the game. The pair has been working on the game for almost four years, and as everything is done in-house, the result is the exact vision set forth by the creative studio.
