Sweden, October 18, 2019 — Swedish cross-media entertainment company Legendo Entertainment announced today the creation of Legendo Music. The new division’s first project is titled Draugablíkk and is a musical, cultural, and historical project whose boreo-pagan folk sound blends traditional Scandinavian instruments and arrangements with Eastern instrumentation and ancient throat-singing, reflecting the wide world traveled by the Vikings, the Rus’, and the Varangians.
Draugablíkk's premiere release “EÍN: Ættarbál” is available from Friday, October 18 on all major music streaming services and YouTube. Visit the following link to listen now: https://smarturl.it/draugablikk
EÍN: Ættarbál includes two tracks: “Ættarbál: Burial at Sea” and the Old Norse poem, “Hel var Árheim” (“Hel was our Homeland”) that tells the story of the creation of the world and hints at a historical origin of the Jǫtnar of Norse mythology. Written in Old Norse meter by Draugablíkk member Viniþarr Amal, Hel var Árheim draws inspiration from the Vǫluspá (Prophecy of the Vǫlva) which is the most well-known poem of Snorri Sturluson's Poetic Edda (the Vǫluspá tells the story of the creation of the world and its coming end and is told by a vǫlva seeress addressing Óðinn.)
The second track, Ættarbál: Burial at Sea, is a song that honors the fallen, and is set against the sounds of sea and weather of long ago. As a dead chieftain’s ship is set ablaze by fire archers from the shoreline, his assembled comrades commend his soul’s journey to the old gods.
