Kyoto, Japan, October 5th 2018 -- Kyoto-based game developer 17-BIT today announced the release of GALAK-Z: THE VIRTUAL on the Oculus Store, offering a remastered, virtual reality version of the critically acclaimed GALAK-Z: THE DIMENSIONAL and GALAK-Z: THE VOID for the first time on a VR platform.

Converted to glorious virtual reality with the help of Taipei-based Playerium, GALAK-Z: THE VIRTUAL puts players at the controls of a unique transforming spaceship, and lets them blast their way through armies of enemies inspired by ‘70s and ‘80s anime and Saturday morning cartoons. Players can choose how they want to face evil Imperials, sneaky void raiders, and spooky space bugs: either as a laser sword-wielding Mech, or as a lightning-fast Starfighter.

Newtonian physics and a finely tuned control system mean players can barrel roll away from missiles, boost through enemy formations, and unleash laser salvos on their quest to help A-Tak, Beam, and a cast of colorful characters save the galaxy. Ever-changing levels and advanced AI also make GALAK-Z: THE VIRTUAL endlessly replayable, pitting you against foes that think, react and cooperate like seasoned pilots.

“GALAK-Z: THE VIRTUAL is the absolute ultimate version of GALAK-Z,” says Jake Kazdal, CEO of 17-BIT. “This is the best seat in the best space-opera theater!”

GALAK-Z: THE VIRTUAL will be available on the Oculus Store on October 11th, 2018. Trailer is available here.
